Visit to Field Demonstration Site - Lien Mac Commune

This visit was made after the demonstration of Ento-Pro had been running for around 2.5 months in Lien Mac, Thanh Ha. The results of the demonstration are very impressive. Despite a very heavy infestation of fruit flies in the commune (due largely to farmers not controlling fruit fly during the lychee season), the demonstration area protected by Ento-Pro produced a bumper crop of high quality guava (see picture below). The yields per hectare were at high levels, the rate of fruit fly attack in the demonstration area were low and no cover spraying of conventional pesticide was necessary. In contrast, the guava crop in the area outside the Ento-Pro demonstration was subject to major fruit fly devastation during the season.

The demonstration results attracted a great deal of interest from farmers, local government officials, MARD and the media. Footage filmed during the demonstration will be utilized in advertising and also in training material for distribution staff and farmers.
